Celebrating Women: Avneet, Ellie and Jo

To celebrate International Women's Day, we're shining a light on the amazing women who make up the heart and soul of QE Home. Meet some of the hardworking store members who dedicate themselves to providing unparalleled service to their customers, and join us as we honor their resilience, leadership, and unwavering positivity.

Meet Avneet, a determined young woman who moved to Canada in 2017 to pursue her studies in Global Resources Management. Despite sometimes feeling out of place, Avneet was determined to succeed and provide for her younger brother.

Avneet's journey to success began at QE Home, where she started as a part-time assistant manager. Through hard work and dedication, Avneet quickly rose through the ranks to become the manager of the store.

Avneet's proudest achievement is being able to pay for her brother's tuition all on her own while juggling work and other responsibilities. Her personal motto is to believe in yourself and trust that you can grow from any challenge that comes your way. She believes that taking care of herself is crucial to being able to take care of others.

At QE Home, Avneet sets a tone of open communication, support, and kindness. She encourages women to speak up and share their ideas, and she provides guidance and support whenever needed. Avneet's advice for women going through a similar situation is to believe in themselves, trust that they can overcome any challenge, and never give up.

For Avneet, her mother is her biggest inspiration. Her mother has always been a strong and independent woman who has overcome many challenges in her life. Avneet hopes to be like her mother one day and inspire others to overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.

Avneet's story is a testament to the resilience and strength of women. Her determination to succeed and provide for her family is an inspiration to all. At QE Home, Avneet is making a positive impact on the women around her, showing them that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.

Ellie is an inspiring woman who has overcome obstacles and achieved great success during her time with QE Home. Immigrating from China in 2006, she started working at our Richmond Centre location in 2009 and quickly worked her way up to become a store manager in 2011.

With a strong passion for bedding and a deep understanding of consumer needs, Ellie is a natural leader who enjoys motivating and coaching her team to achieve their best. She has excellent problem-solving and adaptability skills and can handle unexpected situations with ease.

Ellie's strength as a leader lies in her ability to inspire and motivate her team, delegate tasks, and make tough decisions. As a Store Manager, she is proud to have achieved her goals every year and built a great team.

Ellie positively impacts the women around her by providing them with the tools they need to make informed decisions and achieve the best outcomes for their customers. She has used her fourteen years of experience at QE Home to foster a comfortable and safe atmosphere in the store and ensures her team feels respected and appreciated.

Her advice to other women juggling busy schedules? Stay organized (your time is precious - manage it effectively!) and surround yourself with supportive people. She also recommends connecting with other women in similar positions and sharing advice and resources to stay motivated and focused on goals.

Ellie’s mom is her biggest inspiration, having taught her the importance of hard work and perseverance, and showing her the power of kindness and compassion. She continues to be a source of strength and inspiration in Ellie’s life.

Ellie's personal motto, "Work hard, be kind to yourself, life is good!" reflects her positive outlook on life and her commitment to working hard while taking care of herself. She is an excellent time manager who ensures the store runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis and inspires her team to achieve their best. We’re so grateful to have Ellie as part of the QE Home family.

A remarkable woman with an unbreakable spirit and an unwavering passion for helping others, Jo has been the Store Manager at our Market Mall location in Calgary, Alberta for five years.

Jo's rise to becoming a manager was fueled by her determination and positive outlook, despite the many challenges she has had to overcome, having moved to Canada as a newlywed with a newborn daughter and young son, without a car or many resources.

Before moving to Canada, Jo worked hard to make ends meet, holding down two jobs and owning her own store. She has never let her circumstances get in the way of her drive to provide a better life for her family. As a manager, Jo understands the importance of balancing work and life, especially with young children, and values empathy and understanding.

According to Jo, the key to success is working together and helping each other, and she believes that everyone has their own story. Her philosophy is that by working together in a happy and positive environment, nothing gets left behind. Jo's motto is "opportunities don't just happen, we create them," and she firmly believes that if you want something, you have to work for it.

Despite facing challenging personal circumstances, Jo has always remained positive and dedicated to helping her customers at QE Home. Her sense of camaraderie and leadership has enriched the lives of her Market Mall team, with the majority of them having worked with Jo for over five years.

Jo's story is a testament to the fact that anyone can create their own opportunities with a positive outlook and determination. She is a shining example of perseverance, hard work, and positivity, and her journey serves as an inspiration to us all. We are proud to have Jo as part of our team at QE Home and celebrate her achievements.
