How to Style a Quilt in 4 Easy Looks

Spring has sprung, which means it’s quilt season! A breathable cotton quilt set is our favourite layering piece for spring, and whether you’d rather tuck in under blossoming florals, textured solids, or a classic patchwork, you can find your new favourite quilt set at QE Home.

Not sure how to layer it with your duvet cover and accessories? Here are four easy ways to style your quilt for spring:

1. Simply on Top

Lay your quilt gently over your duvet cover, then fold the duvet back over just below the pillows for added texture and depth. This style features your quilt design and offers an extra layer for you to add or remove while you sleep.

2. Folded at the Base

Fold your quilt set into thirds and lay it as a decorative piece at the base of your bed. This technique adds a framing effect to the ensemble, and works well when you mix and match a solid quilt with a patterned duvet cover or vice versa.  

For a finishing touch, top off your look with a throw at the base of your bed and a square or boudoir cushion overtop your folded duvet cover.

3. Folded at the Top

To really make the head of your bed feel like a cozy sanctuary, tuck your quilt, folded into thirds, slightly underneath your duvet cover at the top of your bed (or near the middle, depending on how big your pillow stack is!)

Round out the look and throw a throw in the middle of your bed and a square or boudoir cushion overtop of your folded quilt.

4. Underneath the Duvet Cover

If a quilt is your preferred sleeping layer for spring, this one’s for you! Layer it as a base just over top of your sheets (use a flat sheet if you prefer a smooth feeling over the quilt’s texture), and fold the top over your duvet cover to see a hint of its design.

Now it’s time for the finishing touch! Complete the look with your quilt set pillow shams: Place them at the back of your pillow stack, or alternate front and back for a layered look. This repeats the design throughout your bedding, tying everything together with a polished style that’s super satisfying.
