Our Favourite Down Duvets for Winter

2026 Oct 20th

It’s getting chilly out there, Canada! Which means it’s down duvet season. We love curling up under a warm and cozy down duvet, and we love helping customers find their perfect one. So without much more ado, let’s find the best down duvet for you!

How Our Down Duvets Are Made

First things first, what are some of the things that all our down duvets have in common?

Well, down! The light, fluffy undercoating that geese and ducks grow to keep warm, the warmest, highest quality down comes from larger, more mature birds like geese from cold climates like Canada or Hungary, with white goose down clusters having the highest warmth-to-weight ratio. This is the down that fills our higher end duvets.

Our down duvets are certified by Downmark®, an independent verifier ensuring that a product has been finished in Canada following strict standards with real, high-quality down or feather materials. They’re also RDS®-certified, to make sure their materials all come from animals that have been treated with the best practices in animal care. Lastly, they’ve been OEKO Tex®-certified for harmful substances and meet STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®.

Best of all? Our down duvets are crafted in Canada! Right here at our headquarters in Burnaby, BC, our finishing experts make sure each duvet is made with the highest quality and care.

What To Look For In Your Winter Down Duvet

Now for the differences: the main considerations to think about when comparing duvets are fill power and construction.

Fill power denotes the loft (or “fluffiness”) of a down cluster. The higher the fill power, the larger the clusters, and thus, the more air that is trapped between the clusters. For cold climates and snuggly sleepers, look for a higher fill power. If you’re looking for more lightweight warmth, go lower.

Another thing to consider when picking your down duvet is the construction. If you sleep cold and insulation is your priority, go for a baffle box construction. For lightweight breathability, a box stitch will do the trick.

Baffle box construction consists of evenly-spaced square compartments which allow the down to loft and spread evenly throughout, improving insulation and eliminating cold spots.

Box stitch duvets are filled with down first, and then square compartments are stitched directly through both layers of fabric. The result is a lighter weight duvet with less down along the stitching line and limited loft.
